Black & White

Yesterday I visited my friend Molly and her 8 month old son Walter. We caught up on life and she talked me through some of this pregnancy stuff. She also generously handed over a stack of maternity clothes that did her well during her duty.

After stashing the goods in my trunk and bringing them home I realized that all of what I had taken from her was black and white color palette. Graphic striped tops, black pants (of course) and drapey blouses.

And now looking at photos of myself here, there and on instagram I am noticing that black & white has been my constant. Not to say I am ignoring color- but I have noticed that black- obviously slimming, is just coming in really handy with these maternity style outfits. Its such a basic and can be dressed up or down.

Today was a study in black & white: I paired my new COS black long cardigan with a pair of jeans (thanks Molly!), my favorite TOPSHOP white tee, COAL hat (Christmas present from two years back) and sturdy Frye boots. I feel comfortable, cute and perfectly prepared for the falling leaves and minimal drizzle today.

And yes, I know I slightly resemble a bag lady here.
