Mark your calendars friends! I will be co-hosting a "madre's night out" event here in Portland on Thursday September 29th so please spread the word and come by if you are in the area. It will be a mix and mingle event for madre's and the perfect excuse to meet those of you that I have never had the pleasure of meeting in real life and also those of you who I don't get to see often. My co-host for the event is Dominga Ramirez, shop owner and mastermind behind the shop Perican Bing in Portland's Sellwood neighborhood.

Funny enough, I was introduced to Perican Bing while in Palm Springs. I was admiring a few items that my friend Jenn had brought along. A lovely white dress and handbag. Jenn gave me the rundown on the shop that her friend had just opened up and explained to me what Dominga's vision for the space was. I have to admit that at first I was a bit skeptical. Portland seems to be overrun with 'women's lifestyle' shops that curate what looks like one woman's personal closet of basic muted tones, necklaces comprised of brass rings and wooden shapes, a few handcrafted leather accessories, a collection of foreign feminist leaning magazines and just a sense of aloofness from the shopgirl.

My expectation was that Dominga's shop would ring true to all of the above, but was willing to check it out since I trust Jenn's opinion on the hot topic of 'lifestyle shops', ha. I am very happy to say that I was pleasantly surprised. Dominga offers much more than your average array of goods. It is the perfect curation of clothing, home goods and accessories. After visiting the shop I knew for sure that Dominga was just the person to pen a few style posts for the blog.

I have been meaning to do a capsule collection post for quite some time but never really knew where to start. I am happy to report that we are working on a post under the premise of ‘Minimalism for the Maximum Mom’. An intro to some basic styling tips and items that hopefully inspire a new perspective on efficient dressing (ie: nix the workout clothes when you are not actually working out).

Check back Wednesday for the full post from Dominga & please RSVP for the event!
