Hi friends, I write this to you on a Friday night. My cousin and our friend just left the house and Mike is out on the town. Mo is sleeping and I wanted to share my pride in the work that my BFF, and frequent contributor to Making La Madre, Emi is premiering this weekend at Sundance. Yes, Sundance. The fancy film industry snowy weekend festival in Park City, Utah. She  has been working for the better part of the last two years on the film Oklahoma City. A documentary about the bombings and the movements leading up to the horrific events. See below for Emi's notes on her trip and the film.

I've had a serious lack of enthusiasm for this particular new year, but I do have some exciting news to share- Our latest film, Oklahoma City, has been selected to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival!  I'll be heading to Park City, Utah for the events next week. It is a film that resonates deeply with me now, especially.  In it, we follow the rise of white supremacist and anti-government sentiment leading up to the Oklahoma City Bombing.  I'm interested to see how this film, which we've been fine-tuning for over a year as a team, is received by a Sundance audience during the Q+As.

I'm also eager to check out some of the other selected films- particularly

Step

, which follows 3 teenage women in their senior year of high school in Baltimore, trying to get into college and chasing their dreams on their step team.  I also plan to attend Park City's own version of the Women's March on

Jan 21

!  It promises to be star-studded.

Most exciting is that I *might* be joined by Lydia and some of our PDX crew. Stay tuned for postcards from our trip.

If you are in L.A., NYC or OKC, please keep your eyes peeled for the film in theaters starting

February 3rd

.  The film will air on PBS on

February 7th

.

Congrats on your premiere. I am still on the fence about attending. Its looking pretty good tonight, a couple drinks in, with kayak open on my browser. And to those of you that will be marching the streets of Portland tomorrow in honor of equal rights, I will see you out there.
